About Psychotherapy
Every psychotherapy session is unique and should be tailored to each individual and his or her specific goals.  I offer a highly personalized approach designed specifically for each client.  With warmth, compassion, understanding, and a sense of humor, I work with clients to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they're striving for.

Although ultimately, one general goal of psychotherapy is feeling better, the process can be uncomfortable.  Often it is necessary to discuss and process emotionally difficult parts of your life: distressing memories, experiences, and aspects of yourself and your relationships.  We can, however, actually address and change the way past experiences have continued to negatively influence the ways in which you operate, personally and professionally, in your current life.  By feeling better about yourself and learning more constructive ways of relating to others, you can create a more satisfying and fulfilling life.

Psychotherapy requires an active partnership between client and therapist.
At first, we will get to know each other.  It is vitally important that therapist and client have a good rapport or connection and that you develop trust and confidence in your therapist.  After we have met a few times, I will share my initial impressions of your concerns and we can, together, collaborate to determine a plan for the way we will work together.  Periodically, we will assess what we have accomplished and make sure we're on the same page in terms of your goals.  We will decide together when it is time to end.
